Trump Signals He Will Not Pursue Third Term
“It’s a very interesting thing. I have the best numbers for any president in many years,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One while traveling to South Korea.
“And I would say that, if you read it, it’s pretty clear. I’m not allowed to run. It’s too bad. But we have a lot of great people.”
The remarks came in response to questions regarding House Speaker Mike Johnson’s comments, who reportedly informed Trump that there was insufficient time to modify the Constitution to permit a third term.
Under the 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution, a president is restricted to serving no more than two terms in office.
